GRANTVILLE, Ga. \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n Police and health officials are warning parents about the dangers of the so-called \u201cBenadryl challenge,\u201d an online trend that encourages young people to take excessive amounts of the over-the-counter allergy medicine in an attempt to trigger hallucinations.<\/p>\n In Georgia, the Grantville Police Department is among the agencies urging parents to talk with their children about the risks.<\/p>\n Videos tied to the trend have promoted taking as many as 12 tablets at once. Health officials warn that going beyond the recommended dose can cause serious side effects, including nausea, seizures and heart problems.
