JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. \u2014 As thousands of people flock to Jacksonville Beach for the July 4th weekend, city leaders are encouraging people to celebrate safely.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want it to be as safe as possible,\u201d says Jacksonville Beach Mayor Chris Hoffman. \u201cThat\u2019s our number one priority for the 4th of July.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since then, there have been several takeover events announced, but they\u2019ve been shut down by police before they even started. <\/p>\n In 2024, a deadly triple shooting took place<\/a> in Jax Beach on St. Patrick\u2019s Day. <\/p>\n We asked locals if they are concerned about safety in Jax Beach going into the holiday weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cI am,\u201d said Drew Warrick. \u201cIn the past years, it\u2019s been a little crazy. You see a lot of the takeovers have been happening.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI do feel like Jax Beach is safe,\u201d said Justin Manny, who grew up in Jacksonville. \u201cI come out here every time I can.\u201d<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n Mayor Hoffman says they are prepared to keep people safe. <\/p>\n \u201cFourth of July is a full activation for our police department,\u201d said Mayor Hoffman. \u201cIt\u2019s all hands on deck for us as it is every year.\u201d<\/p>\n We asked the Mayor what her message is to people who may not feel safe coming to the beaches because of the recent violence.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately, you know there\u2019s been some events that we\u2019ve seen nationwide. It\u2019s not just Jacksonville Beach,\u201d she said. \u201cYou will see an active police presence as we have down here every year.
