America\u2019s first modern craft brewery<\/a> is bringing back its iconic look after a woke rebrand fizzled<\/a>.<\/p>\n

San Francisco\u2019s Anchor Brewing Company has won federal approval for new labels that revive the brewery\u2019s classic designs for Anchor Steam Beer<\/a> and Old Foghorn Ale<\/a>, featuring the original artwork by longtime designer Jim Stitt, who created Anchor\u2019s labels for 45 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes sense that they\u2019re going with the old labels because of that huge backlash when we did rebrand,\u201d former Anchor employee Patrick Costello told KQED<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After buying the historic brewery in 2024, Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya vowed to restore Anchor\u2019s beloved branding. The Turkish-born billionaire also purchased the brewery\u2019s 2.17-acre Potrero Hill campus, fueling hopes that the landmark San Francisco taproom<\/a> will reopen.<\/p>\n

Those rumors intensified two weeks ago when Ulukaya posted an Instagram photo<\/a> watching a World Cup match inside the brewery\u2019s iconic taproom. <\/p>\n

The beer company had to shut down in 2023 following years of financial strain. Instagram\/anchorbrewing<\/p>\n

Speculation regarding a potential reopening further intensified after observers spotted staff active <\/a>within the Anchor\u2019s Potrero Hill facility around two months ago. <\/p>\n

The brewery operated at its Potrero Hill location from 1979 and was one of the last remaining producers of steam beer. Instagram\/anchorbrewing<\/p>\n

In 2021, Anchor Brewing announced a major makeover of their logo and beer labels. Instagram\/anchorbrewing<\/p>\n

After being in business for over 127 years, the beer company had to close after struggling to stay afloat amid declining sales and rising costs of operations. <\/p>\n

Critics\u00a0blamed social activists <\/a>on socialist activists for driving the labor wage war and loyal fans were angry post the 2021 rebranding efforts that changed the look of the beer cans.<\/p>\n
