{"id":911582,"date":"2026-07-04T08:00:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T08:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/911582\/"},"modified":"2026-07-04T08:00:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T08:00:15","slug":"scottsdale-ready-for-july-4-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/911582\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottsdale ready for July 4 weekend |"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">With Independence Day approaching, many around the nation think \u201cThe Three F\u2019s\u201d: freedom, fireworks and fun.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Some around Scottsdale worry about other f\u2019s: furor, fires and frenzied flocks.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Fourth is even bigger than usual this year, with the United States celebrating its 250th birthday \u2013 and Scottsdale marking its 75th anniversary as a city.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Public safety leaders attempt to split the difference, encouraging locals and visitors to celebrate the Fourth of July, while following laws and being respectful.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Fourth of July celebrations are an important tradition for many families, and our goal is to help everyone enjoy the holiday safely,&#8221; said Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We&#8217;re balancing the community&#8217;s desire to celebrate with the very real fire risks that exist during Arizona&#8217;s summer months.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Fireworks are prohibited in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Pinnacle Peak Park \u2013 and properties located within one mile of those preserve areas.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Shannon noted SFD will utilize \u201cproactive patrols, wildfire mitigation efforts, and community awareness \u2026 to reduce preventable fires and protect Scottsdale&#8217;s neighborhoods and desert preserves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He stressed three key points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">using fireworks responsibly;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">securing trailer chains;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">avoiding spark-producing activities in desert areas.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Scottsdale Fire and Police departments particularly hope folks will let the professionals handle fireworks.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The biggest show in town continues to be at WestWorld, which is prepping for its 13th Independence Day celebration. The fun begins at WestWorld at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 4, continuing to 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Promoters promise \u201cthe LARGEST fireworks display in Scottsdale history!\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Most of the events will be indoors at WestWorld.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">An official \u201cwalking historical tour\u201d of the city.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The South Hall Kid Zone with bounce houses, face painters and family-friendly vendors;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A bull-riding rodeo with classic saddle bronc riding, bull-riding competition, wild pony racing and kid-friendly \u201cmutton-busting.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">M Culinary \u201cbackyard BBQ\u201d with hotdogs, hamburgers and other American comfort food;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A slider eating contest;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The \u201cParade of Heroes\u201d honors eight local leaders in a variety of categories.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At sundown, revelers will move outdoors to watch the big fireworks show.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tickets are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/Scottsdale4th.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scottsdale4th.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Legion and more<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A smaller celebration takes place at Old Town\u2019s American Legion Post 44.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The July 4 event takes place from 1 to 4 p.m., with a $10 donation \u2013 to help raise money \u201cto support necessary improvements for electrical and maintenance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Legion\u2019s \u201chigh-energy Fourth of July celebration honoring America\u2019s 250th birthday\u201d features an Elvis tribute performance followed by a rock-and-roll dance party finale.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Post 44 is at 7145 E. Second St.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A few blocks north in Old Town\u2019s Entertainment District, a fancier Fourth celebration happens at W Scottsdale.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The swanky hotel and lounge is hosting \u201ca day-to-night poolside experience culminating in a night swim and fireworks display in the heart of Scottsdale\u2019s Entertainment District.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The W boasts it is \u201chome to Scottsdale\u2019s only chilled pool.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe Night Swim experience offers a high-energy, adults-only (21+) rooftop pool party where guests can cool off in the water while enjoying front-row views of Scottsdale&#8217;s Fourth of July fireworks display.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Admission starts at $25. Alison Sempis, \u201cThe Scottsdale Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly, be considerate of neighbors, and enjoy all that Scottsdale has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Last week, after two shootings related to short-term rental parties, the city announced it is \u201ccracking down\u201d on rowdy rentals and other illegal activities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">During the holiday weekend, Sempsis said, SPD \u201cwill also have officers and members of the Scottsdale Short-Term Rental Unit available to help address neighborhood concerns, support responsible celebrations and respond to disruptive or unsafe activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Those with concerns about fireworks or disruptive parties \u201care encouraged to report issues early and provide specific information, including the address, what is occurring and any immediate safety concerns,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For emergencies or immediate safety concerns, call 911.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For non-emergency issues, residents can contact the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fire concerns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It\u2019s been a long, hot, dry few weeks.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to the Scottsdale Fire Department, \u201cThe combination of extreme heat, dry vegetation, and increased holiday activity can elevate fire risk across our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Fireworks are prohibited on public property and in Scottsdale&#8217;s parks and preserves, the SFD notes.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To prepare for the increased holiday demand, the Scottsdale Fire Department will have \u201cenhanced operational readiness in place, including four brush trucks assigned to proactive wildland patrols throughout the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Those units focus on areas with elevated wildfire risk, including Scottsdale\u2019s preserves.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The department is also conducting \u201chazardous vegetation inspections citywide as part of its annual wildfire mitigation efforts. These inspections help reduce fire risk by identifying and addressing hazardous fuel conditions before peak fire season.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cResidents and contractors are also encouraged to limit activities that generate sparks, such as cutting or grinding metal, particularly in and around desert and open-space areas during periods of extreme heat and dry conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"With Independence Day approaching, many around the nation think \u201cThe Three F\u2019s\u201d: freedom, fireworks and fun.
