Before Jacksonville\u2019s seven bridges, before I-95, before the city became a major port for paper goods, Jacksonville started as the narrow point to cross the St. Johns River.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/live-breaking\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/live-breaking\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>&gt;&gt;&gt; STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE &lt;&lt;&lt;<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Jacksonville is the crossroads for I-95 and I-10, home to the international Port of Jacksonville, and the headquarters for the CSX rail network. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">\u201cJacksonville is a very important part of the nation\u2019s freight and rail industry,\u201d according to CSX Regional VP for State and Government Affairs Craig Camuso.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Railroads played a huge role in Jacksonville\u2019s history. CSX was headquartered in Jacksonville in 2003, but it traces its roots back to Henry Flagler\u2019s railroad empire. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">\u201cWhat also makes it important is our work with the ports,\u201d Camuso said. \u201cJaxport, and the Port of Savannah, and CSX is proud to partner with both of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Both rail and port experts say the two forms of transportation work in tandem to support our bustling economy. \u201cYou see the railroad industry grow and develop to where you\u2019ve got the huge railyard up by Beaver Street,\u201d Brock said. \u201cThere\u2019s already talk about expanding passenger rail service into Jacksonville.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\"><b>[DOWNLOAD: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/mobile-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a><b>]<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Jaxport\u2019s history dates back decades. Today, the port loads and unloads cargo from around the globe, especially Puerto Rico. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Brock says it remains one of the region\u2019s biggest economic engines, and a reminder that Jacksonville\u2019s connection to transportation started strong. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">\u201cI see Jaxport expanding,\u201d Brock said. \u201cWhich means more jobs. You\u2019re going to see more trade.
