{"id":914724,"date":"2026-07-05T19:11:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T19:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/914724\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T19:11:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T19:11:19","slug":"black-bear-spotted-in-pepper-pike-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/914724\/","title":{"rendered":"Black bear spotted in Pepper Pike, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">PEPPER PIKE, Ohio (WOIO) &#8211; The Pepper Pike Police Department shared on social media Sunday a black bear sighting in the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to police, the bear was sighted on camera on Lawton Lane. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">While black bears are typically shy and prefer to avoid people, the department said it encourages residents to remain aware and take simpler precautions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Here are ways to keep yourself and wildlife safe if you spot a bear:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list | article-list\">\n<li>Never approach, feed or attempt to photograph up close<\/li>\n<li>Give plenty of space<\/li>\n<li>Remove food sources<\/li>\n<li>Secure trash cans <\/li>\n<li>bring pet food and bird feeders indoors when possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police said black bears are a natural part of Ohio\u2019s wildlife and, in most cases, will continue on their way if left undisturbed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If you observe a bear that poses an immediate threat to public safety, call 911. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For non-emergency sightings, the department said to call at 216-831-1424, so it can help monitor activity and keep the community informed.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WOIO.
