{"id":915252,"date":"2026-07-06T00:45:22","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T00:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/915252\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T00:45:22","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T00:45:22","slug":"opec-countries-agree-to-increase-oil-production-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/915252\/","title":{"rendered":"OPEC+ countries agree to increase oil production in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 A handful of countries in the OPEC+ oil-producing alliance plan to increase their outputs modestly next month, which would bring more oil online after fuel prices <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/stock-markets-iran-war-ai-21763c547c9aaaf13483625f90a751cd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have fallen<\/a> to levels not seen since before the U.S. and Israel\u2019s <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/iran\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">war with Iran<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Organization of the <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/opec\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Petroleum Exporting Countries<\/a> and its allies \u2014 collectively known as OPEC+ \u2014 announced on Sunday that seven countries would expand oil production by a combined total of 188,000 barrels per day in August. It was the fifth consecutive month OPEC+ <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/opec-oil-russia-uae-hormuz-iran-54fc7aa399fca1fd45e9db2a75da17d1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">agreed to raise<\/a> oil outputs. <\/p>\n<p>The participating countries in Sunday\u2019s decision are Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe countries will continue to monitor and assess market conditions, and in their continuous efforts to support market stability, they reaffirmed the importance of adopting a cautious approach,\u201d the group of oil producers said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>In the last month, market optimism caused crude oil prices to tumble before and after the <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-us-war-strait-of-hormuz-july-1-2026-de0729197bc7b9d3ee9e543d94c18fbe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. and Iran<\/a> reached an interim deal to end their fighting. As part of a broader <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/mou-transcript-iran-us-war-8576fbe2be1309977e903463fbf57ee6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">memorandum of understanding<\/a>, Iran agreed to allow ships to pass unimpeded through the Strait of Hormuz, and the U.S. agreed to end its blockade of Iran\u2019s ports.<\/p>\n<p>More and more commercial vessels have since transited <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/the-worlds-most-important-21-miles-0000019d2fbfd29daffdefffc72e0000\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the strait<\/a>, which before the war was a conduit for roughly a fifth of the world\u2019s oil. But ship traffic remains below pre-war levels, and tensions over the waterway continue. Iran\u2019s joint military command <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-strait-hormuz-oil-route-us-shipping-de981ef87afe8da617076fe494c37482\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">warned as recently as Thursday<\/a> that all oil tankers moving through the strait must use its approved routes or face a \u201cforceful response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oil prices have continued to decline while negotiators for Iran and the U.S. try to reach a final peace agreement. Brent crude, the international benchmark, was going for under $72 a barrel when shortly after commodities trading opened Sunday night. That\u2019s close to what it cost before the U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran in late Feburary \u2014 and far below soaring prices that in March <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/oil-stock-markets-iran-war-458890210407eb0cba85c7e1a684c890\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">climbed to nearly $120<\/a> per barrel.<\/p>\n<p>The war created <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/asia-energy-iran-war-solar-iea-edf3b94bdad7727d88ecec24b17b78f5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an energy crisis<\/a> in much of the world.
