Houston firefighters faced access and water-supply challenges while battling a third-floor blaze in a gated community late Sunday<\/p>\n
HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 Houston firefighters were called to a fire at an apartment complex in west Houston late Sunday night after reports of flames coming from a third-floor unit at 10901 Meadowglen Lane, according to the Houston Fire Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n HFD responded around 11 p.m. and encountered challenges getting to the scene because the complex is gated. Crews also had to work around limited access to water, with the nearest fire hydrants located a significant distance from the buildings, officials said.<\/p>\n Despite the delays, firefighters launched a quick attack and were able to knock down the fire. No civilian injuries were reported.<\/p>\n One HFD safety officer was injured and taken to a hospital in stable condition. Two additional firefighters were also being evaluated, officials said.<\/p>\n Fire officials said 12 units were affected, though it was not immediately clear how many residents were displaced.
