Service on Metra’s Union Pacific-West line was halted on Monday evening after a train struck a person near Lombard, officials said.<\/p>\n
The transit agency said inbound and outbound train movement was stopped after Metra Train #51 hit a person. Authorities didn’t provide extensive details, but said extensive delays were expected. <\/p>\n
Traffic was stopped near the tracks along North Grace Street and East St. Charles Road, Google Maps showed.<\/p>\n
The Village of Lombard said in a Facebook post a large police presence was visible in the area of Parkside Avenue between Grace Street and Stewart Avenue for an investigation near the railroad tracks.<\/p>\n
Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes. <\/p>\n
