For the first time since 2021, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have continuity at the quarterback position to start the season with Aaron Rodgers returning as their starter. Former Steelers OL Willie Colon thinks that will elevate the team\u2019s ceiling. On Good Morning Football this morning, Colon praised Rodgers\u2019 performance last season and believes he\u2019s going to make them a threat this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Steelers are going to be sneaky. They gonna be dangerous, man. I don\u2019t think people are giving them enough credit,\u201d Colon said. \u201cOld man Aaron Rodgers, he has a lot up his sleeve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodgers aside, Colon also believes that WR DK Metcalf is due for a big year in his second season with the Steelers. As a whole, the offense should be improved given that the Steelers traded for Michael Pittman Jr., drafted Germie Bernard and added Rico Dowdle to their backfield.<\/p>\n

Coupled with Rodgers\u2019 return, that should make the offense a solid unit. Defensively, while much of the personnel remains the same, Patrick Graham is bringing new ideas that should galvanize a unit that\u2019s underperformed in recent years.<\/p>\n

Put it all together, and there\u2019s certainly a path for Colon to be right about this Steelers team. Of course, there\u2019s also plenty that\u2019s working against<\/a> the Black and Gold.<\/p>\n

While Rodgers was solid last year, he\u2019s not getting any younger. Also, the Steelers failed to meaningfully upgrade at inside linebacker, and they play two of the NFL\u2019s best quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, twice a season.<\/p>\n

If Pittsburgh\u2019s reshuffled offensive line doesn\u2019t play up to its potential, Rodgers won\u2019t have the ability to feed his improved group of weapons and the offense as a whole will falter.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s undoubtedly plenty of potential when it comes to this team, but so much of its success hinges on the oldest quarterback in the NFL and the defense playing to its potential.<\/p>\n

The good news for the Steelers is that their first-half schedule is much easier than their second-half slate, giving them time to work out whatever kinks they may have. But the difficulty of the second-half schedule means they need to get off to a fast start.<\/p>\n

Quarterback continuity with Rodgers can certainly help in that aspect, and the Steelers\u2019 expectations should be to make the playoffs and repeat as AFC North champions. That hasn\u2019t been the consensus opinion on them, but the talent is there.
