(Photo  courtesy USCG)<\/p>\n<p>A crew with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscg.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Coast Guard <\/a>rescued an 11-year-old child from a sailing vessel that was sinking in the San Diego Bay, it was announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The rescue occurred on Wednesday afternoon when an auxiliaryist \u2014 a volunteer who supports the Coast Guard \u2014 aboard a 26-foot USCG Aids-to-Navigation Boat heard a call for help. The crew pulled alongside the vessel, deployed a flotation device, and brought the child onboard, according to USCG officials.<\/p>\n<p>The crew then towed the sailboat to a nearby pier on Shelter Island, where they emptied out water from the vessel.<\/p>\n<p>While aboard another sailboat nearby, the child\u2019s father met the rescue boat at the pier, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 City News Service<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"One of the US Coast Guard boats, the Cutter Petrel.
