Alabama officials say they are ready to move forward with bringing U.S. Space Command headquarters to Huntsville after President Donald Trump\u2019s recent promise that he\u2019s \u201cworking on it.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cAlabama is the rightful home of Space Command Headquarters,\u201d Gov. Kay Ivey posted on social media Wednesday. \u201cAnd we\u2019re ready for this to be made official.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ivey shared remarks she made in this year\u2019s State of the State address: \u201cYou say we are not innovative, and we will rightfully earn Space Command headquarters.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville<\/a> joined in the conversation, telling Greg Budell of News Talk 93.1 in Montgomery that \u201cthings are really looking good\u201d on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to get the \u2018Big Beautiful Bill\u2019 done to have the $150 billion put into the defense budget, because it\u2019s going to cost a couple of billion dollars to build Space Command,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m very confident that in the very near future we\u2019re going to have a good positive announcement from the president, and hopefully he\u2019ll do it in Alabama,\u201d Tuberville continued.<\/p>\n

Alabama representatives have been increasingly confident that Trump would move Space Command headquarters after his election<\/a> but have grown even more sure after a comment from the president at the White House picnic last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m moving it to Alabama. We\u2019re working on it,\u201d Trump told U.S. Rep. Dale Strong<\/a> in a video posted to X.<\/p>\n

Strong represents north Alabama\u2019s 5th Congressional District, where the headquarters would be located at Redstone Arsenal.<\/p>\n

He said in May that a relocation of Space Command could mean 1,700 direct jobs and an additional 3,000 spinoff jobs in north Alabama.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cSo, this is not about just Redstone Arsenal,\u201d Strong said previously. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about north Alabama. It shows what our region does. It shows what our region has already done for this country, and what we\u2019re going to do. That\u2019s why I\u2019m bullish on the future of north Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump supported the Air Force\u2019s decision to move the headquarters<\/a> from Colorado Springs, its interim location, to Redstone Arsenal near the end of his first term in 2021.<\/p>\n

But President Joe Biden in 2023 reversed that decision<\/a>, deciding to retain the headquarters at Colorado.<\/p>\n
