{"id":91937,"date":"2025-07-25T17:31:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T17:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/91937\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T17:31:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T17:31:08","slug":"were-terribly-sorry-south-park-creators-respond-with-humour-to-white-house-anger-over-naked-donald-trump-south-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/91937\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018We\u2019re terribly sorry\u2019: South Park creators respond with humour to White House anger over naked Donald Trump | South Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">South Park co-creator Trey Parker had the briefest of responses on Thursday to anger from the White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/2025\/jul\/24\/south-park-trump-paramount\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">over the latest season premiere<\/a>, which showed a naked Donald Trump in bed with Satan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">\u201cWe\u2019re terribly sorry,\u201d Parker said, followed by a long, deadpan-comic stare.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Parker was asked for his reaction to the fracas on the stage at San Diego\u2019s Comic-Con International at the beginning of a animation panel that also included his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/south-park\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">South Park<\/a> partner Matt Stone, Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge and actor Andy Samberg, who co-created the animated Digman!<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Earlier in the day, the White House issued a statement on the 27th season premiere episode, which aired Wednesday night. Unlike other characters in the animated show, Trump is depicted as an actual photo of the US president on an animated body. There is also an extended scene featuring a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Afetnw70S04\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hyper-realistic, deepfake video<\/a> of Trump, completely naked, walking in a desert; and repeated suggestions that Trump\u2019s genitalia are small.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">\u201cThis show hasn\u2019t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention,\u201d White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in the statement. \u201cPresident Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country\u2019s history \u2013 and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump\u2019s hot streak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Later in the panel, Parker said they did get a note from their producers on the episode.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">\u201cThey said, \u2018OK, but we\u2019re gonna blur the penis,\u2019 and I said, \u2018No you\u2019re not gonna blur the penis,\u2019\u201d Parker said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Stone added that the team decided to put eyes on the penis, which would make it a character: \u201cIf we put eyes on the penis, we won\u2019t blur it. That was a whole conversation with grown-up people for four fucking days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">The premiere also took aim at Paramount and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2025\/jul\/02\/paramount-settles-with-trump-for-16m-over-60-minutes-interview-with-kamala-harris\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent $16m settlement <\/a>with Trump, just hours after Parker and Stone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/2025\/jul\/24\/south-park-trump-paramount\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed a $1.5bn, five-year deal<\/a> with the company for 50 new episodes and streaming rights to previous seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">In the episode, Trump sues the town of South Park when its residents challenge the presence of Jesus Christ \u2013 the actual person \u2013 in its elementary school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Jesus tells them they ought to settle. \u201cYou guys saw what happened to CBS? Yeah, well, guess who owns CBS? Paramount,\u201d Jesus says. \u201cDo you really want to end up like Colbert?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">CBS and parent Paramount Global canceled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/2025\/jul\/18\/democrats-cbs-colbert-show\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Colbert\u2019s Late Show last week<\/a>, days after Colbert sharply criticised Paramount\u2019s settlement of Trump\u2019s lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview.
