James Taylor revealed that he missed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce\u2019s nuptials<\/a> because of a longstanding tradition of performing at Tanglewood Music Festival.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, [my wife Kim] and I were invited to a\u00a0wedding at Madison Square Garden tonight,\u201d the \u201cFire and Rain\u201d singer told the crowd<\/a> on Friday, according to the Berkshire Eagle.<\/p>\n

The beloved singer-songwriter added that he wishes the bride and groom \u201chappiness and smooth sailing.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rep for Swift did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n

The 1970s icon \u2014 whom Swift is named after \u2014 has been performing at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts, in an annual Independence Day concert for the past 52 years, beginning in 1974.<\/p>\n

The traditional concert typically takes place at the Koussevitzky Music Shed, and is followed by a patriotic fireworks display. <\/p>\n

The \u201cYou\u2019ve Got a Friend\u201d singer, 78, isn\u2019t the only celebrity to have ditched the biggest wedding of the year<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cAmerican Idol\u201d host Ryan Seacrest, 51, revealed on Monday that despite sending in an RSVP for the massive event, he wound up working over the holiday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cI RSVP\u2019d to go, and then Disney hired me to do the Fourth of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th,\u201d he shared during \u201cOn Air With Ryan Seacrest.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cSo I had to cancel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The radio host admitted he was \u201ckind of torn\u201d about whether or not to attend the star-studded f\u00eate<\/a> at Madison Square Garden, or host the TV special.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrust me, I went through the minutes,\u201d he explained. \u201cI couldn\u2019t have done both. And the actual wedding\u00a0was in the afternoon<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other celebrities who missed out on the fun<\/a> included Harry Styles, who was on the European leg of his Together Together Tour, Serena Williams \u2014 who was scheduled to play in a Wimbledon doubles match with sister Venus Williams before canceling due to an injury \u2014 and Robert Pattinson, who told Entertainment Tonight that he \u201cwas shooting \u2018Batman.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and \u201cOpalite\u201d hitmaker, both 36, tied the knot at the iconic sports arena on Friday. <\/p>\n

The multi-million dollar extravaganza included such extravagances as Cartier watches<\/a>, a designer handbag<\/a>, and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle reportedly being raffled off, as well as a six-figure security cost<\/a>. <\/p>\n
