The Warriors previously made commitments to veteran centers Kristaps Porzingis<\/a> (two years, $40 million) and Al Horford<\/a> (two years, $14 million).<\/p>\n They both battled health issues last season but essentially ranked above Post in the team\u2019s hierarchy at the position.\u00a0<\/p>\n Memphis guaranteed only the first season of its offer to Post (at nearly $8.3 million), according to spotrac.com. The deal was worth $26.1 million over three years, with incentives potentially pushing the total value to $30 million.<\/p>\n Post, 26, blossomed into a productive player after the Warriors selected him late in the second round (at No. 52 overall) of the 2024 NBA draft. He played at Mississippi State and Boston College, averaging 17 points and 8.1 rebounds in his final season at B.C. while shooting 43.1% from long distance.<\/p>\n Then, as a rookie, he spent time with Santa Cruz of the G League before making his NBA debut in late December of 2024. He became a regular part of the rotation in the season\u2019s second half, averaging 8.1 points and 3.5 rebounds over 42 games.<\/p>\n Just as important, he shot nearly 41% beyond the 3-point line in his first season, giving the Warriors the floor-spacing center they had long coveted.\u00a0<\/p>\n Post, a 7-footer from Amsterdam, became a liability in the \u201925 postseason against Houston and Minnesota, when those teams attacked him on defense. He improved defensively last season, but his long-range shooting accuracy fell to 33.6%. Post played in 67 games (35 starts), averaging 7.7 points and 4 rebounds.<\/p>\n His playing time declined late in the season, partly because of a foot injury and partly because the Warriors leaned into the experience of Porzingis and Horford.
