\n\tThe \u201cRent<\/a>\u201d West End<\/a> revival has unveiled the principal cast joining \u201cStranger Things<\/a>\u201d star Gaten Matarazzo<\/a>, who will play Mark in Jonathan Larson\u2019s beloved musical. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe cast includes some of the West End\u2019s best and brightest, including Travis Ross (\u201cCabaret at the Kit Kat Club,\u201d \u201cCake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist\u201d) as Roger; Bella Brown (\u201cInto the Woods,\u201d \u201cEvita\u201d) as Mimi; Billy Nevers (\u201cJesus Christ Superstar,\u201d \u201cHamilton\u201d U.K. and Ireland tour) as Collins; Lazy Violet (\u201cRent\u201d at Landmark Theatre) as Maureen; Olivier Award nominee Danielle Fiamanya (\u201cBrigadoon\u201d) as Joanne; Jeevan Braich (\u201cStarlight Express\u201d) as Angel; and Joaquin Pedro Valdes (\u201cHerakles in the Frogs\u201d) as Benny. \n\tDue to popular demand, it was also announced on Wednesday that the show has been extended to March 27, 2027. \u201cRent\u201d will begin previews at the Duke of York\u2019s Theatre \u2014 soon to be renamed the Tom Stoppard Theatre \u2014 on Sept. 26, with opening night set for Oct. 8. <\/p>\n

\n\tOriginally premiering in January 1996 \u2014 the night after Larson suddenly died at 35 \u2014 \u201cRent\u201d follows a group of young artists and friends in New York City\u2019s East Village \u201cnavigating love, ambition and creativity while trying to build lives on their own terms,\u201d its synopsis reads. \u201cInspired by Puccini\u2019s La Boh\u00e8me, this iconic musical captures the joy, uncertainty and resilience of a generation determined to make every moment count. Featuring an unforgettable score and a story that continues to resonate, \u2018Rent\u2019 is a powerful celebration of community, connection and a call to live every minute as if it were your last. \n\tThis production of \u201cRent\u201d will be directed by Luke Sheppard with music, lyrics and books by Larson. Choreography is by Tom Jackson Greaves, set design is by David Woodhead, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Howard Hudson, audio production and sound design by Paul Gatehouse, video design and cinematography by George Reeve and Nathan Amzi, make-up and hair design by Jackie Saundercock, U.K. casting by Pearson Casting CSA, CDG, CDA and U.S. casting by Jim Carnahan CSA. The musical supervisor is Bill Sherman and the musical director and associate musical supervisor is Katy Richardson, the intimacy director is Asha Jennings-Grant, the associate director is Priya Patel Appleby and the dialect coach is Joe Trill. It\u2019s produced by Chris Harper Productions, Sonia Friedman Productions, Winkler & Smalberg and Julie Larson in association with the Hope Mill Theatre.<\/p>\n
