Alex Padilla planned to announce legislation Friday that he said will expand pathways to lawful permanent residents for millions of long-term United States residents.<\/p>\n<p>Padilla was expected to join a coalition of immigrant rights groups to speak about his plan an 11:15 a.m. news conference in Los Angeles. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/gardener-deteained-santa-ana-tustin-marines\/3742620\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/gardener-deteained-santa-ana-tustin-marines\/3742620\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alejandro Barranco<\/a>, one of three Marine brothers whose father was detained by federal agents during a landscaping job in Santa Ana, also was expected to attend the news conference.<\/p>\n<p>Details about the legislation were not immediately available.<\/p>\n<p>Live coverage of the news conference will be provided above. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"California Sen.
