If multiple people become infected within a neighborhood, a typical source would be a cooling tower, hot tub or spray fountain, NYC Health wrote on its\u00a0<a data-ylk=\"slk:website;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/doh\/health\/health-topics\/legionnaires-disease.page\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mark Levine, the city&#8217;s comptroller,\u00a0<a data-ylk=\"slk:said;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MarkLevineNYC\/status\/2073944467250294946\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>\u00a0that this current cluster of cases is from a contaminated cooling tower, and not a water system. In another post, Levine said that &#8220;it takes two weeks or so to grow legionella samples in the lab so we will not get the location of contaminated towers right away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Legionnaires&#8217; disease cases<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As of late July 7, there has been 28 cases and 21 hospitalizations.
