Authorities rescued 17 unconscious women from the Manar beauty salon in the A-Tur neighborhood of Jerusalem<\/a> on Wednesday, with some of them being in moderate condition while others were in more serious condition.<\/p>\n

Firefighters worked at the scene “to examine the circumstances of the incident, and rule out any further risk to the public,” Israel Police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

According to the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority<\/a>, an initial investigation indicated that a generator illegally connected to the building caused carbon monoxide (CO) to leak, which then accumulated inside the structure.<\/p>\n

Later on Wednesday, Jerusalem District Police detained three suspects for questioning in connection with the incident, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority said.<\/p>\n

The Israel Fire and Rescue Authority emphasized that there was no danger to nearby buildings.<\/p>\n

Twelve of the women, aged 20 to 40, were evacuated to nearby hospitals, with seven in moderate condition and five in mild condition, according to Magen David Adom.<\/p>\n

The hospitals involved included Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem\u2019s Ein Kerem, Hadassah-University Medical Center on Jerusalem\u2019s Mount Scopus, and Shaare Zedek Medical Center<\/a>, MDA said.<\/p>\n
