{"id":921639,"date":"2026-07-08T20:43:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T20:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/921639\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T20:43:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T20:43:16","slug":"partners-of-33-years-say-i-do-in-hospice-after-brides-terminal-cancer-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/921639\/","title":{"rendered":"Partners of 33 years say &#8216;I do&#8217; in hospice after bride&#8217;s terminal cancer diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A terminally ill bride married her partner of 33 years in her hospice bed \u2013 after years of putting off tying the knot.<\/p>\n<p>Heartbreaking pictures show newlywed couple Karen and Stephen Glossop beaming with happiness moments after saying their vows during an emotional service.<\/p>\n<p>The couple was joined by their four children, Kym, Luke, Rebecca and Samantha, and five grandchildren, for their special day.<\/p>\n<p>With the help of staff at Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, the couple was able to finally say \u2018I do\u2019 last Thursday, July 2, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Karen and Stephen Glossop, who got married at Ashgate Hospice. EKR Pictures \/ SWNS<\/p>\n<p>The pair from Eckington, Derbyshire, say they always planned to get married but \u201clife took over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year Karen, 58, was diagnosed with cancer and was moved into <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/01\/us-news\/hospice-provider-claims-most-are-legit-but-fraud-exists\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hospice care<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Retired lorry driver Stephen, 67, said: \u201cWe never found the time to get married.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kids came along, and then life took over. But it was always our plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joined by their family, the couple, after 33 years together, tied the knot. EKR Pictures \/ SWNS<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been together for 33 years, and this wedding has been a long time coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the day was beautiful, and our wedding was so special. I am so grateful to Ashgate for making it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone was astounding, making it all fall into place in just hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so glad that we were able to get so many people together at such short notice at Ashgate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The people at Ashgate Hospice and local community came together to make the special day possible.
