It has been a big week for confessions in pop music<\/a>. Chappell Roan<\/a> stopped by Rosal\u00eda\u2019s Lux tour<\/a> and absolved herself of some tea. In the confessional section of Rosal\u00eda\u2019s show, Roan told the story of how she came to write the song \u201cCasual,\u201d without the songwriter it\u2019s about. \u201cI was writing with someone, and we kind of started to flirt with each other,\u201d Roan said<\/a>. \u201cAnd then we talked for three months online. This was during the pandemic.\u201d Roan said that for those three months, they were texting and sending pictures, and eventually Roan flew out to Los Angeles for a date. \u201cWe kissed and I was floating. I was just so like \u2018wow,\u2019 and then I didn\u2019t hear from them in four days,\u201d Roan said. When she finally followed up after four days of ghosting, this anonymous songwriter said they\u2019d met someone else.<\/p>\n So, meeting someone else? Pretty normal. Exploring connections is not a crime, despite what the villa has to say about Kenzie<\/a>, but it was how this person spoke about Roan later that enshrined them in song. \u201cThey met someone within the four days of us not speaking, which is maybe possible,\u201d Roan said. \u201cBut then they were writing with another artist \u2014 which is normal! But they said to this artist I was friends with that they knew they should be sad and care about me but they don\u2019t. And that they don\u2019t know why I\u2019m so upset because it was just casual.\u201d That word stuck in Roan\u2019s craw, and thus a song was born. Roan finished the story with a little blind-item action. \u201cI\u2019ve never said this story, because they write with some other artists you may know,\u201d she said. \u201cBut they said that know it\u2019s messed up, but they can turn their emotions on and off like a faucet.\u201d<\/p>\n So who could this songwriter with the emotional on-off switch of a Vampire Diaries vamp be?
