A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was found with critical stab wounds on the NSW Mid North Coast, with police confirming the pair knew each other.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to a home in Taree at around 5am on Monday.<\/p>\n

A 36-year-old man died at the scene\u00a0<\/strong>after he tried to seek help at a neighbour\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Grant Erickson said NSW Police established Strike Force Hexalon to investigate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This is a sad and tragic event, and I’m acutely aware there are members of the community who may have information in relation to this event,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I want to take this opportunity to thank certain members of the community coming forward with information that we’ve gathered and collated with forensic and other evidence that we’ve got.”<\/p>\n

Superintendent Erickson said the deceased man was not known to police, but the teenager was.<\/p>\n

The 16-year-old was arrested at a home in Taree\u00a0on Wednesday and later charged with murder.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Superintendent Erickson said the teenager and man knew each other, but were “not associates”.<\/p>\n

The teen appeared before the Parramatta Children’s Court today, where he did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.<\/p>\n
