A Wimbledon player had an ugly crash during a women\u2019s doubles quarterfinal Wednesday.<\/p>\n
However, it wasn\u2019t the usual slip on the grass that is so often seen throughout the Grand Slam tournament.<\/p>\n
Rather, Demi Schuurs ran into a ball girl while chasing down a ball. <\/p>\n
Schuurs, alongside partner Ellen Perez, was serving 3-3 in the first set while facing Shuko Aoyama and Liang En-shuo.<\/p>\n
With a deep shot to the baseline from the opposing pair, Schuurs desperately ran to the back of the court to attempt to return the ball with a tough backhand swing.<\/p>\n
In doing so, she ran into a ball girl, who was standing in her usual position at the very back of the court.<\/p>\n

As Schuurs took her swing, the ball girl ducked and the ball bounced off the back wall and out of play.<\/p>\n
The two fell to the ground and the point went to Aoyama and En-shuo.<\/p>\n
Immediately following the collision, Schuurs needed medical attention and a physio went over to her bench to check her arm and knee during the mid-match medical timeout.<\/p>\n

The ball girl didn\u2019t appear to be hurt in the aftermath and Schurrs later gave her a high-five following the collision.<\/p>\n
Schurrs went on to post a video of the incident to her Instagram story with two sad emojis. <\/p>\n

Schuurs was able to continue to match and she and Perez won the next point and held their serve.<\/p>\n
However, the two ultimately lost 6-4, 6-4 to end their Wimbledon run.<\/p>\n
Schuurs, who is a multi-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist and ranks No. 23 among women\u2019s doubles players, reached the semifinals in Australia in 2021.<\/p>\n
