\u201cLandman\u201d actress Ali Larter<\/strong><\/a> has made clear that she has no regrets about swapping Los Angeles<\/a> for a remote family home in Idaho<\/a>\u2014sharing a series of photos of an idyllic weekend she spent with her loved ones at her mountain retreat. <\/p>\n

Larter, 50, relocated to Sun Valley, ID<\/a>, from California<\/a> with her husband, Hayes MacArthur<\/strong>, and their children, Theodore<\/strong>, 15, and Vivienne<\/strong>, 11, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the family has not looked back, instead investing heavily in their life in their new home state, where they have built a stunning custom home.<\/p>\n

Now, the “Legally Blonde” star has shared a look into the “simple” life that she sought out for her family with the move, belatedly revealing a series of images from their Fourth of July weekend<\/a> in a July 9 Instagram post. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“Epic 4th in the Mountains!” Larter captioned the post, which featured a variety of images of herself enjoying the rural landscape alongside friends and family. <\/p>\n

Among the photos shared were pictures of the actress and her loved ones heading to a nearby river with a host of floaties, which they used to bob along the water, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. <\/p>\n

Other photos included the large gathering posing for a picture on a red and white Willys Jeep, and Larter sipping on an oversized drink in a beer can-covered bar.<\/p>\n

Her latest post came not long after she opened up to Fox News Digital about how her life has changed since she made the move to the Gem State, revealing that their family dynamic\u2014and their favored activities\u2014look “totally different” in the wake of their relocation. <\/p>\n

“Well, it\u2019s totally different, so we can\u2019t really get our kids to hike anymore,” she shared. “They don\u2019t want to do that. But I can get them to take a bike ride and then do, like, a little cold plunge in the river.” <\/p>\n

As for their favorite things to do, Larter noted that they have embraced the simpler things in life, including cookouts at home and ice cream outings. <\/p>\n

“We love to barbecue at our house. We love to play with our dogs. My daughter will probably play some volleyball. We\u2019ll go to Leroy\u2019s and get an ice cream cone,” she said. \u201cIt\u2019s just kind of simpler, and the days are really long. <\/p>\n

“The sun\u2019s out till like 10 at night now, so it\u2019s been really beautiful to kind of have the kids out of school and enjoy the time with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Larter previously shared how the family had fallen in love with the rural “beauty” in Idaho while spending time there during the pandemic, admitting that they were so enamored with their surroundings that they essentially just never left. <\/p>\n

\u200b\u201cWe fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and their quiet grandness,\u201d Larter shared with Rue Magazine<\/a>. \u201cNeither of us had ever lived in a small town before. People look out for each other. There\u2019s a real sense of community here and we\u2019re so happy to be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her Idaho home is a world away from Los Angeles\u2014but also from her childhood in New Jersey<\/a>, where she was living when she was first discovered. <\/p>\n

Larter was raised in a \u201ctwo-story, white-and-brown house\u201d in Cherry Hill, NJ<\/a>, with her parents and sister, where she had a \u201csimple, beautiful, and fun\u201d childhood, according to The Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But when she was 13, eating snapper soup at Bookbinder\u2019s in Philadelphia<\/a> with her mom, Larter was scouted by a talent agent to appear in a Philadelphia Phillies TV commercial.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

From that day on, Larter\u2019s normal, suburban life disappeared. She began to appear in local clothing ads, but her peers at school didn\u2019t take well to her newfound fame.<\/p>\n

Larter became an outsider, forced to \u201cwalk the hallways alone\u201d and eat her school lunches \u201cin the bathroom,” she previously told the outlet. <\/p>\n

However, professionally, she was on the rise, earning multiple modeling jobs before transitioning into her acting career. She had her breakthrough role in 1999 as Darcy Sears in the sports-comedy movie \u201cVarsity Blues.\u201d<\/p>\n

From there, she starred in the horror franchise \u201cFinal Destination\u201d as Clear Rivers and romantic comedy hit \u201cLegally Blonde\u201d as Brooke Taylor Windham, sealing her fate as a Hollywood star.<\/p>\n

In 2005, Larter met MacArthur, a Chicago<\/a> native, on the set of a comedic movie in Austin, TX<\/a>. In 2009, they tied the knot in Kennebunkport, ME<\/a>, at MacArthur\u2019s family estate.<\/p>\n

The couple first purchased<\/a> a modern, three-story home in Hollywood Hills, CA<\/a>, before abandoning the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for a slow and quiet life in Idaho.<\/p>\n

There, Larter and MacArthur began to build their dream home, a 4,400-square-foot abode situated on 2 acres of land and completed with tons of windows to fully take advantage of the beautiful mountain views.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Larter said that she wanted a home that \u201cfit into the natural geography of Sun Valley but didn\u2019t have that traditional \u2018cabiny\u2019 feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dwelling is almost entirely coated in Benjamin Moore\u2019s Simply White, white oak wood paneling, and grasscloth wallcovering to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.<\/p>\n

In addition to being an actress, Larter is also a chef, releasing her own cookbook, \u201cKitchen Revelry: A Year of Festive Menus from My Home to Yours\u201d in 2013. She also has a recipe blog at AliLarter.com<\/a>, making her favorite room in the house the wide, open kitchen with stunning mountain views and Italian marble countertops.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe in the importance of family dinner and it\u2019s great when the kitchen is flooded with light. It becomes the most beautiful part of the home,\u201d MacArthur said to Rue Magazine.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Larter has been traveling to Texas<\/a> to film in her current hit role as Angela Norris in the drama series \u201cLandman\u201d on Paramount+, and she told the outlet that the project has been one of the most exciting of her career. <\/p>\n

\u201cTo work with director Taylor Sheridan<\/a><\/strong> and the outstanding cast\u2014Billy Bob Thornton<\/a><\/strong>, Jon Hamm<\/a><\/strong>, and Demi Moore<\/a><\/strong>\u2014was a career highlight for me,\u201d Larter said. \u201cIt was a \u2018pinch me\u2019 moment to get in the ring with this level of writing and talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, even with the sometimes fast-paced environment that comes with being an actress, Larter believes that the mountains and Idaho\u2019s rural atmosphere have helped her to slow down in her everyday life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking at the mountains relaxes and inspires me,\u201d Larter said. \u201cMost of the time in my life, I feel like I\u2019m going 1,000 miles an hour and these giant rocks chill me out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress even told People<\/a> that moving from California to Idaho has been the best decision for her and her family.<\/p>\n

“It’s incredibly calming and grounding to live in the mountains, and we love raising our children in a rural small town,\u201d Larter said. “[It] has been a gift for our family. It’s important to me that when I come home, I can be present with my children.”<\/p>\n

Larter is only one of the many celebrities who have left Hollywood for a slower pace of life.<\/p>\n
