Jeremy Scheublin, 45, was cuffed at 7:10 a.m. on July 10 within the confines of the 46th Precinct<\/a>, which he formerly led as its commanding officer. The arrest followed an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation last year, which was subsequently turned over to the Bronx District Attorney\u2019s office, sources with knowledge of the case said.<\/p>\n

Scheublin was suspended from the department without pay earlier this week, pending the ongoing investigation.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hold our police officers to the highest standards and have zero tolerance for misconduct of any kind,\u201d the NYPD said in a statement. \u201cThe NYPD conducts thorough investigations into any allegation that a member of the department failed to meet those standards \u2014 and that\u2019s exactly what happened here. The NYPD\u2019s Internal Affairs Bureau investigated these deeply troubling claims and referred this case to the Bronx District Attorney\u2019s Office for prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheublin was hit with a laundry list of additional criminal charges, including sexual abuse, assault, unlawful imprisonment, forcible touching, official misconduct and obstruction of governmental administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During his arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court on Friday morning, court records indicated, Judge Laurence Busching set bail against Scheublin at $75,000 bond or $25,000 cash. The suspect is due back in court on Oct. 30.<\/p>\n

Specific details about the criminal case involving Scheublin remain unknown. The Bronx District Attorney\u2019s office has yet to respond to amNewYork\u2019s request for a copy of the criminal complaint.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In March, an attorney for an officer who worked under Scheublin at the 46th Precinct, identified as N.T., sued the inspector for sexual harassment and retaliation over an alleged pattern of abuses dating back to Scheublin\u2019s arrival at the precinct in December 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 66-page civil complaint<\/a> notes that Scheublin had allegedly made numerous inappropriate advances at N.T., a Black woman, and at one point summoned her to his office through a sergeant. The civil complaint alleges that N.T. found the request inappropriate and unrelated to any official police business.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, N.T. complied with the commanding officer\u2019s order and went to the office. Both Scheublin and several colleagues had pressured N.T. into accepting a role as his administrative assistant, succeeding a retiring detective. Rumors had spread that Scheublin had several romantic relationships with officers within the command, and N.T. felt uncomfortable with the proposal, interpreting it as a sexual advance from Scheublin.<\/p>\n

After rejecting the officer, the civil complaint noted, Scheublin allegedly began directly interacting with N.T on a more frequent basis, making unwanted comments about her appearance and personal matters that were inappropriate and made N.T. feel uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

At times, the lawsuit charged, Scheublin refused to sign reports from N.T. in order to force her to directly interact with him. In another instance, N.T. alleged that the inspector had meddled in her pursuit of a transfer to the Domestic Violence Unit, and had questioned her about why she wanted a change in her assignment. She was later denied the transfer.<\/p>\n

After one meeting at the precinct, the civil complaint noted, Scheublin allegedly told her, \u201cI don\u2019t know whether I should smack or kiss you.\u201d He would make variations of the same comment on several other occasions through 2024, sometimes saying he didn\u2019t know whether to \u201cchoke or kiss\u201d N.T.<\/p>\n

A violent struggle in Bronx inspector\u2019s office<\/p>\n

Things took a violent turn on Jan. 1, 2025, during the 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift inside the command, when Scheublin confronted N.T. outside the Muster Room and summoned her to his office. Once inside, the civil complaint noted, Scheublin shut the door, then allegedly placed his hands around her neck without consent. She pulled back in an effort to break contact, which prompted him to remark, \u201cOh, you are strong \u2014 that\u2019s the type of woman I like.\u201d<\/p>\n

When N.T. told him to stop, the lawsuit alleged, Scheublin allegedly grabbed her buttocks, then threw her onto a couch and attempted to kiss her on the lips. After a long physical struggle, N.T. broke free from the inspector, then kicked him in the groin in self-defense and fought him to stop the assault.<\/p>\n

Scheublin remarked that he wanted to \u201cmake biracial babies\u201d with her and \u201cspoke as though [N.T.\u2019s] resistance were flirtatious rather than defensive,\u201d the civil lawsuit noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Following the attack, N.T. called the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau to file an official complaint against Scheublin, which prompted an investigation.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The day after the Jan. 1, 2025, incident, Scheublin allegedly summoned N.T. to his office for a second meeting, during which he offered \u201cany assignment she wanted,\u201d including positions with Field Intelligence or Domestic Violence Unit, both of which carry significant overtime and promotion potential. N.T. interpreted it as a quid pro quo to silence her, and she refused.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Angered by her refusal, the complaint noted that Scheublin said at one point, \u201cIt didn\u2019t go well for the last person who made accusations against me\u201d \u2014 a remark N.T. interpreted as a threat against her career. Afterward, the commander ordered her into 3 a.m. pre-tour overtime duty, something that appeared to be retaliatory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scheublin had been previously assigned to Patrol Borough Manhattan North in March 2026. During his career, according to the police accountability website 50-a.org<\/a>, he had four complaints filed against him with the Civilian Complaint Review Board for official misconduct, ranging from abuse of authority to use of physical force. He was also named in eight known lawsuits that the city settled for a combined $481,000.<\/p>\n
