{"id":92736,"date":"2025-07-26T00:35:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T00:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/92736\/"},"modified":"2025-07-26T00:35:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T00:35:11","slug":"scottie-scheffler-clears-the-air-on-british-open-fart-gate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/92736\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottie Scheffler clears the air on British Open fart-gate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Scottie Scheffler fart-gate took a brand new twist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the 17th hole at the British Open last Thursday, when Scheffler was chipping to the green, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/17\/sports\/fan-rips-fart-during-scottie-scheffler-british-open-shot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the broadcast feed picked up someone passing gas<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While some thought a fan was the culprit, Scheffler completely changed the narrative this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler was featured on Barstool Sports\u2019 \u201cPardon My Take\u201d podcast and shed light on who is really to blame for the incident \u2014 himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, that was me,\u201d Scheffler admitted on the show. \u201cOh yeah, that was me. \u201cYou\u2019re out there for like six hours, you\u2019re eating some different food over there. Some stuff is going to happen.<\/p>\n<p>As Scottie Scheffler hit this shot at The Open Championship on Thursday, the sound of a fart could be heard. pmcdonaldCBS\/X<\/p>\n<p>Scottie Scheffler on \u201cPardon My Take.\u201d @PardonMyTake\/X<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou never know with the boom mics there, you never know what they\u2019re going to pick up. I\u2019m definitely surprised it hasn\u2019t happened more in the past picking up stuff like that. I literally didn\u2019t think anything about it then after we got inside, Xander [Schauffele] was showing me the video. He pulls up the video and I see myself standing on 17, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, I know what this is.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now that the truth is out, the gas might\u2019ve helped fuel his shot as Scheffler almost chipped it straight into the hole.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler finished Thursday 3-under par and continued to ride high into the weekend before he ran away with the British Open crown, his first time winning that major.<\/p>\n<p>Scottie Scheffler teeing off from the 16th hole at the British Open. Scheffler, before winning the event, was the world No. 1 golfer and the betting favorite to win the Claret Jug.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a pretty special feeling,\u201d Scheffler said after winning. \u201cIt was a tough week; I battled hard all weekend. Today, once again, was a battle, but [I] played some really good golf. I\u2019m fortunate to be standing here holding the trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scottie Scheffler kissing the famous Claret Jug.
