\u201cI need to review the situation because we\u2019ve had many new players come in,\u201d Elliott continued. \u201cWhether it blocks the path for me I\u2019m not sure, it\u2019s something I need to decide and have a look at.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club have added significant depth under Arne Slot, but that means opportunities could become scarce for players like Elliott, no matter how promising they look on paper or in youth competition.<\/p>\n
Pre-season becomes proving ground<\/p>\n
Elliott is currently part of Liverpool\u2019s travelling squad for pre-season in Asia and remains committed for now. \u201cAt the moment I\u2019m here for the season, as far as I\u2019m aware, unless anything changes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

If you are a Liverpool fan, Elliott\u2019s words hit differently. Not with anger, but with understanding. He has grown up at the club, he speaks with the maturity of someone who wants to succeed, not just survive. But the midfield is a crowded space now, and even talent like his has to wait for scraps at times.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no doubt he impressed in the Under-21 Euros. Five goals from midfield, composure beyond his years, and a player who looks ready for more than cameos. You can see why West Ham fancy their chances. He fits their dynamic, attacking style and would be a guaranteed starter most weeks.<\/p>\n
But there is something in Elliott\u2019s tone that still sounds like Liverpool is his home. \u201cIf I had it my way, I\u2019d be here for the rest of my career,\u201d he said. That\u2019s not a throwaway line, that\u2019s belief in the club, in the badge. It just might need reciprocating.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s hierarchy need to find the right balance here. Letting Elliott go could be one of those decisions they regret.
