The E-Ink screen is designed to be unusually fast for its class, with a claimed refresh rate of up to 80 Hz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The Hibreak Dual 2 is currently available through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/bigme\/worlds-first-large-dual-screen-color-e-ink-smartphone?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">crowdfunding campaign<\/a> on Kickstarter, with pledges starting at around 560 US dollars. While crowdfunding projects generally carry inherent financial risks, the risk in this case appears reduced: Bigme is an established manufacturer with products already available through regular retail channels (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s?k=bigme&amp;crid=2DNXQR497U5DT&amp;tag=nbcnewsnet-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\">on Amazon<\/a>), some of which we have previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Bigme-Hibreak-smartphone-review-The-color-display-e-ink-phone-hits-high-frame-rates.950913.0.html\" target=\"_self\" class=\"internal-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tested<\/a>. Consequently, the campaign functions primarily as a high-visibility pre-order initiative.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">As with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/BigMe-unveils-HiBreak-Dual-smartphone-with-a-color-E-Ink-screen-and-a-rear-display.1272809.0.html\" target=\"_self\" class=\"internal-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">its predecessor<\/a>, Bigme combines an E-Ink display with an LCD panel in a single smartphone. For this iteration, both screens are nearly rectangular and fully usable. The 6.13-inch E-Ink display offers a resolution of 824 \u00d7 1,648 pixels in monochrome mode; as is typical for color E-Ink panels, the pixel density drops from 300 to 150 PPI when displaying color content. Notably, Bigme advertises a refresh rate of up to 80 Hz, an unusually high figure for E-Ink technology that will require verification in real-world testing.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">Such a high refresh rate raises the question of whether a secondary display is still necessary, though the rear 5-inch LCD panel (720 \u00d7 1,280 pixels) is expected to deliver superior color reproduction. Internally, the smartphone is powered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/MediaTek-Dimensity-8300-Processor-Benchmarks-and-Specs.958937.0.html\" target=\"_self\" class=\"internal-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MediaTek Dimensity 8300<\/a>, a modern and capable SoC, paired with either 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM depending on the configuration. The device supports dual-SIM 5G connectivity and stylus input for sketching or handwritten notes. Power is supplied by a 4,450 mAh battery that supports charging at up to 30 watts, while the camera setup includes a 5 MP front camera and a 50 MP main sensor.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Notebookcheck-Team.212978.0.html?&amp;tx_nbc2journalist_pi1%5Bmode%5D=show&amp;tx_nbc2journalist_pi1%5Buid%5D=118\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/fileadmin\/_processed_\/4\/7\/csm_Bild_6022534c22.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" alt=\"Silvio Werner\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology.
