The asylum-seeking migrant suspected of beating and suffocating New York mother Jamey Carney<\/a> inside her Ireland home was in Turkey by the time police launched a manhunt for the \u2018significant person of interest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahmad Alsaqer, 28, allegedly booked a flight out of Dublin and landed in Istanbul hours before Carney\u2019s 13-year-old daughter discovered her mom in the bed of their Killarney home Tuesday around 1 p.m., the Irish Independent reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Alsaqer \u2014 who applied for asylum after arriving in Ireland from the Middle East in 2024\u00a0\u2014 was identified as a \u201cperson of significant interest,\u201d and hopped on a bus around 3 a.m. for the Irish capital airport after allegedly killing his 43-year-old partner hours earlier.<\/p>\n

Police believe Alsaqer will attempt to travel through the Middle East to get back to Jordan, Extra.ie reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Alsaqer, who has connections in Turkey, Syria and Jordan and is fluent in Arabic, French and English, was described by the Irish National Police, Gardai, as a person of interest in Carney\u2019s murder, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

He is believed to have been one of the last people to see Carney after spending Sunday and Monday with her.<\/p>\n

Carney, who was found hidden underneath a duvet with multiple severe\u00a0wounds to the head, died of suffocation<\/a> after neighbors reported hearing an argument coming from the rented home, officials said.<\/p>\n

Police issued alerts to Ireland\u2019s ports and airports to be on the lookout for Alsaqer, fearing he would try to leave the country, not knowing he had already slipped out.<\/p>\n

Alsaqer, who was in the process of seeking asylum in Ireland, had gotten his passport returned <\/a>to him by authorities before the murder, and used the travel document to escape to Turkey.<\/p>\n

The couple had sparked a relationship in the last few months after meeting at a local anti-Israeli protest.<\/a><\/p>\n

Because Alsaqer had frequented Carney\u2019s house before her murder, investigators may have\u00a0a hard time\u00a0charging him with murder because his DNA from previous visits would be found around the house, according to the Irish Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be different if he\u00a0was\u00a0an intruder or had never been there before \u2013 he might\u00a0be struggling\u00a0to explain his DNA in that scenario,\u201d the source told the paper.<\/p>\n

Carney shared several photos of the two on social media, including on July 4th seemingly wishing she was back in her home state while the couple dressed in New York sports apparel in front of a computer-generated backdrop of Times Square.<\/p>\n

The suspected murderer commented multiple times under Carney\u2019s posts with loving messages, including \u201cI love you so much,\u201d and \u201cmy beautiful family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carney was politically vocal on her social media accounts, with her bios reading \u201cFree Palestine\u201d and \u201cFk ICE.\u201d<\/p>\n
