Here\u2019s how to apply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LOS ANGELES (AP) \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/volunteer.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/volunteer.html\">2028 Los Angeles Olympics<\/a> and Paralympics will open its volunteer application and portal on July 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The date is exactly two years out from the 2028 Olympic opening ceremony. About 60,000 individuals are needed for both games. The Olympic volunteer period runs from March to August 2028, while Paralympic volunteers are needed from August to September 2028.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"FILE - LA28 logos decorate a backdrop as First lady Jill Biden speaks at a reception at the...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1783776494_606_2QVHSOMPPVABTA67HKVRXYOTY4.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"653\" \/>FILE &#8211; LA28 logos decorate a backdrop as First lady Jill Biden speaks at a reception at the U.S. Chief of Mission Residence to commemorate the opening of the 2024 Summer Olympics and celebrate the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games, to be held in Los Angeles, Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Paris.(David Goldman | AP Photo\/David Goldman, File)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Every volunteer during the games will be required to commit to a minimum of 10 shifts within one period, LA28 organizers said Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/volunteer.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/la28.org\/en\/volunteer.html\">Volunteer roles<\/a> will include a wide range of responsibilities, from welcoming and guiding spectators and athletes to more specialized roles, such as providing medical or language translation assistance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Most of the volunteer positions will be within the Los Angeles area, but volunteers will also be needed for Olympic events in these cities: San Diego; Oklahoma City; New York; St. Louis; Columbus, Ohio; Nashville, Tennessee; and San Jose, California.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Applicants will be asked to indicate their preferred location and any special skills for consideration that may qualify them for a specialized role.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cVolunteers are the backbone of the games,\u201d LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said. \u201cThey are a friendly face who helps welcome the world, create memorable experiences and bring the Olympic and Paralympic spirit to life. Their passion and energy will help define LA28 for athletes, fans and communities across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Besides volunteering during the games, applicants can also serve in the community now.
