{"id":928148,"date":"2026-07-11T16:14:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T16:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/928148\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T16:14:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T16:14:18","slug":"taylor-swift-paid-160k-for-nypd-cops-at-manhattan-madison-square-garden-wedding-weekend-mamdani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/928148\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Swift paid $160K for NYPD cops at Manhattan Madison Square Garden wedding weekend: Mamdani"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taylor Swift shelled out six figures to cover the cost of NYPD cops and other city resources required to protect her massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/07\/06\/details-taylor-swift-travis-kelce-wedding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Madison Square Garden wedding<\/a> to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce earlier this month, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The Grammy winner \u201chas paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/taylor-swift-travis-kelce-wedding-09fe20408ed795a47aeb600cc4adf2e8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">to that event,<\/a>\u201d Mamdani said during a Friday press conference, after a reporter asked him whether Swift would compensate New York City for the police overtime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was a<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/taylor-swift-travis-kelce-wedding-madison-square-garden-fe8b13f27f8f896a97ae200005b1ecc4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> permit that was finalized,<\/a> I think, in just the days before the event itself,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani\u2019s comments came one week after the \u201cOpalite\u201d singer\u2019s wedding day on July 3, which required an increased police presence and the closure of several streets in the Midtown area while the couple exchanged vows inside The Garden.<\/p>\n<p>Their rehearsal dinner, which seemingly occurred the night prior, saw a similar law enforcement presence as well road blocks, meant to protect the privacy of Swift, Kelce and their approximately 1,000 guests.<\/p>\n<p>It all unfolded amid a very busy summer for the city, which recently celebrated the Knicks\u2019 first championship in 53 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/07\/04\/happy-independence-day-nyc-celebrates-250-years-of-america-on-july-4-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the nation\u2019s 250th birthday<\/a> and is still enjoying the FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani during the same press conference described it as a \u201cnumber of what are <a href=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/post\/taylor-swift-wedding-expenses-singer-nyc-160000-cover-cost-resources-madison-square-garden-festivities-mayor-mamdani-says\/19481209\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">both historical and generational events<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swift\u2019s critics were quick to condemn her for hosting her star-studded nuptials during such a hectic period in NYC, and New York Rep.
