Break out the checkered flag, Nascar McCoy<\/a><\/b> has pulled into the Ole Miss<\/a><\/b> pits. The 6-2, 180-pound defensive back out of Buford (Ga.) High School announced his commitment to the Rebels on Friday evening at an event in nearby Atlanta.<\/p>\n

McCoy is an industry-average four-star prospect, rated as America’s No. 39 safety, the No. 53 player in the state of Georgia’s talented 2026 class and No. 490 nationally. He is a three-star prospect by 247Sports standards, coming as the country’s No. 37 safety and the No. 49 player from the Peach State.<\/p>\n

McCoy picked Ole Miss over finalists Georgia<\/a><\/b>, Miami<\/a><\/b> and Michigan. Those were the four hats he had on the table when he announced for the Rebels.<\/p>\n

McCoy also held\u00a0 offers from SEC programs\u00a0Alabama<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Arkansas<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Auburn<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Florida<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Kentucky<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0LSU<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Mississippi State<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Missouri<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0South Carolina<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Tennessee<\/a><\/b>\u00a0and Texas A&M, as well as national powers\u00a0Ohio State<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0USC<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0UCLA<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Penn State<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0Oregon<\/a><\/b>\u00a0and others.<\/p>\n

You see just some of the programs that have offered McCoy listed above. Obviously, what those teams think of McCoy and what the industry-rankers think of him are two different things. We’ll see who is right in the end, but I would put my money on the guys coaching the game. I see McCoy as a four-star talent and will go with the likes of Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, et. al. with his abilities and projections.
