{"id":92918,"date":"2025-07-26T02:11:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T02:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/92918\/"},"modified":"2025-07-26T02:11:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T02:11:09","slug":"dauphin-county-town-issues-warning-after-skunk-with-rabies-symptoms-spotted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/92918\/","title":{"rendered":"Dauphin County town issues warning after skunk with rabies symptoms spotted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"Q3K3FJ2ZJRGUZDF5IV4BSKGWUM\">A rabid skunk was spotted in a Dauphin County community Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1D28cBobkM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1D28cBobkM\/\">according to city officials<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"CWVLN3D7A5DUTK6CCL3PVL3GYE\">Hummelstown officials posted on Facebook Friday morning that a skunk showing signs of rabies was seen in the area of Runyon Road and West High Street.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MR4OJEQYDBFYJIDCQC2FLSEHDE\">Signs of rabies in skunks include roaming during the day (skunks are typically nocturnal), aggressive behavior, excessive salivation and fearlessness around humans, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skedaddlewildlife.com\/blog\/top-5-signs-a-skunk-may-have-rabies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.skedaddlewildlife.com\/blog\/top-5-signs-a-skunk-may-have-rabies\/\">Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"RLBX4SZ3PNHNXBIDU2C4D4C53E\">If you see a skunk showing signs of rabies, do not approach it or attempt to handle it, officials advise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UYLSXQWZA5AX7HDUJQASYTDIFI\">Officials ask residents to keep their pets indoors or supervised at all times and to report unusual animal behavior to the Pennsylvania Game Commission at 1-833-742-9453.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ETLKIKJ4T5AKFLIJROBVRSBLAM\">If your pet came into contact with a skunk in the area, officials recommend seeking veterinary care.<\/p>\n<p>If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
