{"id":92926,"date":"2025-07-26T02:15:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T02:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/92926\/"},"modified":"2025-07-26T02:15:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T02:15:14","slug":"thunderstorms-take-out-trees-power-in-outaouais-eastern-ontario","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/92926\/","title":{"rendered":"Thunderstorms take out trees, power in Outaouais, eastern Ontario"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 20,000 local customers are without power after Thursday evening&#8217;s series of thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/ottawa\/tornado-storm-ottawa-gatineau-weather-forecast-july24-1.7592778\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Severe thunderstorm warnings<\/a> rumbled across eastern Ontario and western Quebec from about 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>When the storm was at its worst, it produced a tornado warning around Sharbot Lake,\u00a0gusts of wind up to 90 km\/h\u00a0and\u00a0lightning,\u00a0Environment Canada\u00a0told Radio-Canada.<\/p>\n<p>CBC News is checking and it&#8217;s not yet clear whether a tornado happened.<\/p>\n<p>As of 3 p.m. Friday around\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hydroone.com\/power-outages-and-safety\/stormcentre-outage-map\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">14,000 customers were without power<\/a> in eastern Ontario, according to Hydro One, and about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/infopannes.solutions.hydroquebec.com\/info-pannes\/pannes\/bilan-interruptions-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">9,000\u00a0addresses in the Outaouais were out<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Bancroft and La P\u00eache\u00a0areas have the most customers in the dark. It should take most of the day for power to be restored in Bancroft, according to Hydro One. Nearly half\u00a0of its customers don&#8217;t have power.<\/p>\n<p>Hydro Ottawa does not list a significant number of outages.
