The New York City Department of Sanitation is disciplining out-of-control garbage men after they were caught on video leaving one Staten Island block a trash-strewn<\/a> dump.<\/p>\n

In images posted to Facebook on July 3, workers outside a Westerleigh home on Stewart Avenue can be seen tossing trash bags into the middle of the street \u2014 where a garbage truck then runs them over, scattering refuse across the road.<\/p>\n

It was recorded by Alessante Catalano\u2019s household security camera at 5:27 a.m, the Staten Island Advance reported<\/a> first reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s garbage everywhere, it\u2019s disgusting, Sanitation is supposed to clean up the place, not make it dirtier,\u201d the outraged resident told The Post.<\/p>\n

Catalano, 36, said sanitation workers<\/a> have treated his neighborhood as a pigsty for years \u2014 carelessly tossing trash bags and pails around and leaving garbage all over the road.<\/p>\n

He began witnessing the incidents shortly after he moved to The Forgotten Borough in 2018, but they\u2019ve been getting worse recently.<\/p>\n

In another stinky scene, captured on video Feb. 28, New York\u2019s Strongest threw a garbage bag containing 20 baggies of dog feces<\/a> in the middle of street. The bag broke open, the baggies fell out and cars ran them over \u2014 smearing excrement all over the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole block smelled, it was horrible,\u201d Catalano said. <\/p>\n

Catalano reported the s\u2013tshow to DSNY, which told him it investigated but found \u201cno condition\u201d at the location, despite the images he sent of poop-filled roads.<\/p>\n

Sanitation workers have tossed garbage cans into his wife\u2019s car and other cars on his block, he claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes me and my wife upset to see our pails thrown out in the middle of the street, I pay a lot of taxes in this city to see it go to waste is a shame,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The litter-lined streets have created unsanitary conditions, and he said it\u2019s made it difficult to even take his dog for a walk, Catalano lamented.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take my dog out for a walk and she picks up trash, used paper towels I have to take out of her mouth,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to get anybody fired, but something has to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n

DSNY did not name the workers or specify how they will be disciplined for the July 3 incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis video clearly does not reflect the high standards of the Department of Sanitation. Sanitation Workers are required to collect all trash properly set out for collection without leaving a mess in the streets,\u201d a spokesperson said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It\u2019s trashy behavior.
