The Boilermaker Road Race was held Sunday in Utica.<\/p>\n

Thousands of runners took part in the 5K and 15K runs and the wheelchair 15K, along with the famous after party.<\/p>\n

Alex Matata won the men’s 15K<\/a> with a time of 42:24.\u00a0Tsigie Gebreselama finished with the top time in the women’s 15K<\/a> with a 47:29 showing.<\/p>\n

Thomas Rivier came out on top in the\u00a0men’s 5K<\/a> in 16:19, while in\u00a018:05, Dorcas Huang won the 5K women’s<\/a> champion.<\/p>\n

Joshua Cassidy won the\u00a0men’s wheelchair 15K<\/a> in 33:24.\u00a0Hoda Elshorbagy, in 41:51, won the women’s wheelchair 15K<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The winners of last year’s 15K on both the men’s and women’s sides did not compete<\/a> this weekend.<\/p>\n

In 1978, the Boilermaker began as a 15K road race with 876 runners, created to celebrate founding sponsor Utica Boilers’ 50th anniversary.
