When you log in from July 11-12, you\u2019ll notice there\u2019s a six-part quest available that\u2019s built around Genetic Mastery in Pok\u00e9mon Go. It\u2019s a series of challenges offered by Professor Willow, and it\u2019s all centered around Mega-Evolved Mewtwo.<\/p>\n<p>Below, I\u2019ve outlined every task you need to complete to wrap up the Pok\u00e9mon Go Genetic Mastery Timed Research challenge as quickly as possible. It\u2019s a limited-time deal, so you\u2019ll need to move fast!<\/p>\n<p>All Go Fest 2026 Genetic Mastery Tasks and Rewards<\/p>\n<p>Here are all six parts of the Pok\u00e9mon Go Genetic Mastery line and what you need to do to unlock the maximum rewards.<\/p>\n<p>Step One<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spin 5 Pok\u00e9Stops or Gyms (6 x Pinap Berry)<\/li>\n<li>Catch 10 Pok\u00e9mon (26 x Pok\u00e9 Ball)<\/li>\n<li>Make 3 Great Throws (6 x Nanab Berry)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step Two<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Power up Pok\u00e9mon 10 Times (1 x Fast TM)<\/li>\n<li>Use a Fast TM (1 x Charged TM)<\/li>\n<li>Use a Charged TM (3 x Hyper Potions)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step Three<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Catch 20 Different Species of Pok\u00e9mon (1 x Incubator)<\/li>\n<li>Hatch 2 Eggs (100 x Gengar Mega Energy)<\/li>\n<li>Mega Evolve a Pok\u00e9mon (1 x Star Piece)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step Four<\/p>\n<p>Step four is a little different, as it requires players to <strong>make a choice<\/strong>. You\u2019ll now need to make a decision that\u2019s based on one of the biggest talking points in the game this weekend:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mewtwo X vs Y in Pok\u00e9mon Go?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You need to pick between these two evolutions. Here\u2019s a bit more information:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mega Mewtwo X: Psychic and Fighting power with massive physical capabilities<\/li>\n<li>Mega Mewtwo Y: Not as strong, but immense Psychic power<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are the challenges in this step to unlock the Mewtwo encounter:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Catch 3 Psychic-Type Pok\u00e9mon (2026 x Stardust)<\/li>\n<li>Make 10 Curveball Throws (26 x Ultra Ball)<\/li>\n<li>Complete 6 Field Research Tasks (1 x Super Incubator)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are the resulting rewards for the new challenge:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mega Mewtwo X<\/strong> <strong>Path<\/strong>: 2026 x XP, 26 x Great Ball, 2026 x Stardust, 300 x Mewtwo X Mega Energy, Mewtwo, and 26 x Mewtwo Candy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mega Mewtwo Y Path: <\/strong>2026 x XP, 26 x Great Ball, 2026 x Stardust, 300 x Mewtwo Y Mega Energy, Mewtwo, and 26 x Mewtwo Candy<\/p>\n<p>Step Five<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mega Evolve Mewtwo (2026 x Stardust)<\/li>\n<li>Power up Psychic-type Pok\u00e9mon 10 Times (26 x Ultra Balls)<\/li>\n<li>Win 3 Raids Using a Team of All Unique Pok\u00e9mon Species (1 x Super Incubator)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step Six<\/p>\n<p>Step six is all about claiming the most important rewards from Pok\u00e9mon Go Fest\u2019s Genetic Mastery challenge:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Claim Reward (2026 x XP)<\/li>\n<li>Claim Reward (2026 x Stardust)<\/li>\n<li>Claim Reward (2026 x XP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, you\u2019ll earn 3 x Mewtwo Candy XL, 1 x Elite Charged TM, and 26 x Mewtwo Candy.<\/p>\n<p>Mewtwo X vs Mewtwo Y \u2013 Which Should You Pick?<\/p>\n<p>Most people are gravitating towards Mega Mewtwo Y for this choice, as you\u2019ll ultimately be getting one of the most formidable fighters in the entire game, provided you can win that battle. Mega Mewtwo Y beats Mega Mewtwo X where it matters most, and the psychic capabilities it has are second to none.<\/p>\n<p>Mewtwo X isn\u2019t <strong>weak <\/strong>by any means, but judging from Pok\u00e9mon tips, polls, and picks online, Mega Mewtwo Y is the one to go for.<\/p>\n<p>Now, if you\u2019re in that fight, you\u2019ll want to know the best <strong>Mega Mewtwo Y counters<\/strong>, naturally.<\/p>\n<p>Mega Mewtwo Y is weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type attacks, so bear that in mind. The best counters for Mega Mewtwo Y, according to the top battle sites in the business, are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Necrozma \u2013 Dawn Wings<\/li>\n<li>Mega Tyranitar<\/li>\n<li>Shadow Tyranitar<\/li>\n<li>Mega Absol<\/li>\n<li>Mega Gengar<\/li>\n<li>Shadow Hydreigon<\/li>\n<li>Shadow Darrai<\/li>\n<li>Lunala<\/li>\n<li>Mega Houndoom<\/li>\n<li>Eternatus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, nothing <strong>simple<\/strong>, unfortunately.
