The combination of intense heat and higher humidity will make it much harder for your body to cool itself, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nA moisture surge will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the San Diego County mountains Monday, as higher temperatures are expected later this week, the National Weather Service said. <\/p>\n
“This Monday morning it is mild and muggy out with clouds due to monsoonal moisture; that’s what is going to make it feel so humid all week,” said Chief Meteorologist Sheena Parveen. <\/p>\n
The monsoonal moisture will provide an afternoon storm chance for the mountains and deserts Monday and possibly each day this week. <\/p>\n
“Any monsoonal storms, especially in the mountains, could cause heavy downpours, gusty winds and lightning,” Parveen said. <\/p>\n
A beach hazard statement <\/strong>will remain in effect through Tuesday evening. Beaches will see elevated surf with dangerous rip currents. This could result in coastal flooding in parking lots, streets, and low-lying areas.<\/p>\nAn extreme heat watch <\/strong>will be in effect for the coast, inland valleys, and mountains from Tuesday at <\/strong>10 a.m. through Thursday at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n![\"](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/HNDu0vMWAAAKS_E.jpg\")

Due to the heat watch, temperatures will continue to climb this week, with the most dangerous conditions expected by Wednesday. Extreme heat combined with increasing humidity will impact nearly the entire county, except for the beaches. By midweek, most communities are expected to reach moderate-to-major heat risk levels.<\/p>\n

While the added moisture may help limit fire danger somewhat, the threat remains due to the prolonged hot and dry conditions and a slight chance of dry lightning, Meteorologist Francella Perez said. <\/p>\n
“It is going to be hot and humid all week long, so whatever your plans are outside, especially for the kids that are on summer break, you want to make sure you take the right precautions,” Parveen said. <\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPeople are participating in outdoor activities to enjoy a brief break from the heat this weekend. But another warm-up is expected to return, as NBC 7’s Adonis Albright reports.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Below are some tips from the county on remaining cool during a heat watch:<\/p>\n
\n- Stay hydrated! The more hydrated you are, the more effective your body will be at keeping you cool. Drink water \u2013 not fizzy and alcoholic drinks, which will dehydrate you.<\/li>\n
- Avoid exercise in the middle of the day. If you need to exercise outside, do it early in the morning when the temperature is lower.<\/li>\n
- Wear lightweight, light-colored natural fabrics like cotton and linen, as these will help your skin breathe and let your sweat evaporate, cooling you down.<\/li>\n
- Use a fan to circulate air from open windows. Keep your blinds or curtains drawn during the day, so your home doesn\u2019t heat up while you\u2019re out. Turn off big appliances and help prevent brownouts.<\/li>\n
