The illness can come from eating unwashed produce and causes watery diarrhea, fatigue, dehydration, nausea, and vomiting.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/cyclosporiasis\/php\/surveillance\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">According to CDC data<\/a>, more than 840 cases have been reported in the United States since May 1. Data shows 1 to 10 cases have been reported in Nebraska and Iowa.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">CHI Health confirmed that cases were reported in Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">&#8220;If you&#8217;re not feeling well at all or dizziness, you know, you&#8217;re falling, you know, you&#8217;re having dehydration symptoms, then definitely go to the E.D. But if it&#8217;s mild symptoms, talk to your primary care provider first please,&#8221; said CHI Health Midwest Market Vice President of Medical Operations Dr. Renuga Vivekanandan.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">Cyclospora infections are seasonal, with cases rising in spring and summer. The cyclosporiasis season runs from May 1 to Aug. 31.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"6\"><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ketv.com\/article\/cyclospora-outbreak-foods-cdc-data\/71836151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">What we know about past outbreaks linked to cyclospora, the parasite that can lead to \u2018explosive diarrhea\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"7\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/food\/outbreaks-foodborne-illness\/investigations-foodborne-illness-outbreaks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">FDA investigations of foodborne illness outbreaks<\/a> have recorded 21 cases related to Cyclospora outbreaks since 2013. The most common food items are fresh herbs and leafy vegetables found in salad mixes.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"8\">The parasite has been found in fresh produce such as:<\/p>\n<ul data-node-id=\"9\">\n<li>Parsley<\/li>\n<li>Cilantro<\/li>\n<li>Snow peas<\/li>\n<li>Mesclun lettuce<\/li>\n<li>Spinach<\/li>\n<li>Salad mixes<\/li>\n<li>Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-node-id=\"11\">According to the CDC, common symptoms include watery diarrhea (most common), loss of appetite, weight loss, cramping, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue. Less common symptoms include vomiting, body aches, headache, low-grade fever, and other flu-like symptoms.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"12\">For most people, cyclosporiasis lasts days, but some with
