Fort Worth rainfall amounted to between 1 and 2 inches, while most areas of Dallas saw less than half an inch of rainfall.

In light of excessive rainfall, the weather service issued flood warnings for southwestern Denton County and southeastern Wise County through 12 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Here’s what the return of excessive rainfall could mean for North Texas.

Rain remains in the forecast for the coming days. The weather service predicts isolated showers and storms will continue Tuesday afternoon and evening before returning again Wednesday afternoon. Friday is set to see a 19% chance of precipitation.

Sara Barnes, a meteorologist in the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, said isolated flash flooding remains possible Tuesday and Wednesday due to ongoing scattered storms.

Barnes attributed Monday’s heavy rainfall to the slow-moving nature of the storms, a characteristic she expects to continue with Tuesday and Wednesday’s rainfall.

Even as isolated flooding chances remain low, Barnes recommends staying alert to the forecast, especially before hitting the road.

“If you come across any high water on roadways, turn around,” Barnes said.

She said flood warnings should stay restricted to Central Texas, currently under a warning until 7 p.m.

National Weather Service flood alerts are broken into three categories. Flood watches indicate an increased risk of flooding, for which the details of location and severity are unknown. Flood warnings are issued when a hazardous flood is occurring or likely to occur, presenting a threat to life or property. Flood advisories indicate that flooding is occurring but does not present a significant threat to life or property.

Barnes predicts hot, dry summer conditions will return by the weekend.

DFW International Airport recorded a new daily rainfall record for July 13: About 1.29 inches of rain were…

[5135
5229,1596,6228,358,290227,324926,328516,337215,290225,290169,326777,366362,342946,3187,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
post-934860","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-america","tag-dallas","tag-service","tag-texas","tag-tp-dallas-fortworth","tag-tp-fort-worth","tag-tp-texas-flooding","tag-tp-thunderstorm","tag-tp-weather","tag-tp-dallas","tag-tp-dallas-county","tag-tp-flower-mound","tag-tp-lewisville","tag-tx","tag-united-states","tag-united-states-of-america","tag-unitedstates","tag-unitedstatesofamerica","tag-us","tag-usa
["GET
