The largest great white shark ever discovered in the Atlantic Ocean was spotted for the first time in months and is most likely heading toward Cape Cod and then the eastern coast of Canada, according to a group that researches the apex predators.<\/p>\n
The 14-foot, 1,700-pound male shark named \u201cContender\u201d was last spotted near the\u00a0Outer Banks\u00a0of North Carolina and is believed to be heading north towards the popular Massachusetts summer destination, according to OCEARCH\u2019s shark tracker<\/a>.<\/p>\n The biggest great white shark ever recorded is on the move \u2013 likely towards a popular US holiday hotspot. OCEARCH \/ SWNS<\/p>\n Contender\u2019s GPS tracking device, attached to its fin, last pinged on Friday after the behemoth beast had disappeared into the ocean\u2019s depths for several months since the Outer Banks sighting in April. <\/p>\n The Friday glimpse of the great white, however, was only a partial ping and not strong enough to generate an exact location, according to the conservation group. <\/p>\n Still, the shark experts have a good idea of where Contender is likely heading. <\/p>\n Contender, the 14-foot great white shark, is believed to be heading north.
