Fort Worth’s favorite son is releasing a new album this fall.<\/p>\n

Leon Bridges announced Tuesday, July 14<\/a> that “Happiness Anytime” will release on Sept. 25. This is the Fort Worth crooner’s fifth studio album and first project since “Leon,” his 2024 record that he described as his “most personal” project at the time.<\/p>\n

The “Happiness Anytime” title serves as both a mission statement and an invitation, according to an album description on his website.<\/a><\/p>\n

“It’s music you can put on no matter how you’re feeling and be immediately transported somewhere coastal and warm,” the description reads. “In crafting the album, Leon Bridges focused on feeling, storytelling, and his vocal performance.”<\/p>\n

In addition to Bridges, artists Lydia Kitto and J Lloyd produced the album.<\/p>\n

Kitto brings a “melodic intuition and harmonic detail” to the project, while Lloyd shapes the production and “sonic structure,” according to an album description.<\/p>\n

“The result is an album that feels unusually cohesive, like three musicians discovering a shared vision, drawing inspiration from Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat, Brazilian music, soul, disco, and South American rhythms,” the description reads.<\/p>\n

    Bridges, 37, was born in Atlanta but raised in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

    Between open mics, he washed dishes at Cowtown’s Del Frisco’s Grille until he skyrocketed to fame in 2015 after his debut album, “Coming Home.” Next, he released “Good Thing” in 2018, followed by “Gold-Diggers Sound” in 2021 and “Leon” in 2024.<\/p>\n

    At his “Leon” tour stop at Dickies Arena in November 2024, Fort Worth Mattie Parker presented Bridges<\/a> with a city proclamation stating Nov. 15 as “Leon Bridges Day.” Nearly a year later, the city unveiled a series of street sign toppers<\/a> on South Calhoun Street to honor Bridges.<\/p>\n

    Just a few months ago at a charity event in April<\/a>, Bridges teased that he was working on new music.<\/p>\n

    “I’m gearing up to drop a new album,” Bridges said at the time. “I don’t know the release date yet, but I think it’s my best work yet.”<\/p>\n
