PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Another airline is promising to become the first to have direct flights between Asia and Phoenix Sky Harbor.<\/p>\n
China Airlines announced on Thursday<\/a> it\u2019ll have nonstop flights three times a week between Taipei, Taiwan and Phoenix starting in December.<\/p>\n In May, STARLUX Airlines<\/a> said it would start new nonstop flights between Phoenix and Taipei\u2019s Taoyuan Airport<\/a> early next year, with three to four weekly flights.<\/p>\n The China Airlines flights will depart every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from Phoenix at 11:55 a.m. with a layover in Los Angeles before arriving in Taipei at 9:30 p.m. the following day.<\/p>\n On the flight back to the Valley, it takes off at 10:55 a.m. and arrives at 8 a.m. Arizona time.<\/p>\n Both airlines will use an Airbus A350-900 aircraft for the flights, carrying 306 passengers. STARLUX will reportedly have its three weekly flights on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. <\/p>\n China Airlines also said it\u2019s partnering with Southwest Airlines to make it easier to go to other destinations. Officials said passengers will have interline ticketing and can connect between airlines in the same terminal.<\/p>\n To celebrate the flights, China Airlines is offering a 14% discount for economy seats, making the cost $647 before taxes. For more information, click\/tap here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The battle for flights between Taiwan and Phoenix grows as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company works to expand its north Phoenix campus. Earlier this year, it broke ground on its third semiconductor manufacturing fab<\/a>, or factory, near 43rd Avenue and Dove Valley Road.
