Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush has helped take down an alleged weapon-wielding offender while driving in Melbourne\u2019s CBD.<\/p>\n
Police say Triple Zero calls alerted officers to a man in Melbourne’s CBD allegedly carrying a knife.<\/p>\n
Patrolling officers confronted the man on Queen Street, and when he was not compliant, attempted to use a taser on the man.<\/p>\n
When the taser had no effect, the 32-year-old Brunswick man ran from police down Collins Street.<\/p>\n
Chief Commissioner Mike Bush was travelling to work with his security officer in a car, and spotted the man running from police.<\/p>\n
Police say Chief Commissioner Bush then got out of the car and restrained the man before other officers were able to help.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officers seized a chisel following the arrest, which the man threw away prior to his arrest. The man was taken to hospital for assessment.<\/p>\n
No-one was injured during the incident.<\/p>\n
The take-down comes just over six months after Inspector Dean Thomas of the Homicide Squad chased an alleged teenage offender while on his lunch break with colleagues.<\/p>\n
The group of officers reportedly saw the 14-year-old allegedly punch a man in the head near the DFO food court on Spencer Street in January.<\/p>\n
