On today’s Hello Houston, Ernie and guest host Doris Childress<\/a> discuss today’s top stories at the top of each hour, including the University of Houston hosting a congressional redistricting hearing<\/a>, President Trump’s executive order allowing homeless people to be removed from the streets, and congressional candidate Isaiah Martin being arrested.<\/p>\n

In the first hour of the show, we talk with Katie Stone<\/a>, President of Houston Restaurant Weeks<\/a>, who tells us about next week’s event, which is the largest annual fundraiser for the Houston Food Bank<\/a> \u2013 the largest food bank in the country.<\/p>\n

Then, in the second hour, The Texas Tribune’s Colleen DeGuzman<\/a> discusses HB\u202f21-27\u2014dubbed the \u2018Death Star’ bill\u2014a sweeping law that strips cities and counties of the power to pass local ordinances unless they mirror state law.<\/p>\n
