{"id":938463,"date":"2026-07-16T08:35:42","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T08:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/938463\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T08:35:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T08:35:42","slug":"trump-calls-ny-moratorium-on-ai-data-centers-terrible-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/938463\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump calls NY moratorium on AI data centers &#8216;terrible decision&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW YORK (BLOOMBERG) \u2014 <\/strong>President Donald Trump criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul for announcing a temporary ban on data centers, calling it a \u201cterrible decision\u201d and urging the state to change its decision immediately.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth the Taxes and the Jobs amount to LIQUID GOLD!\u201d he wrote in a post on Truth Social. \u201cData Centers are tremendous WINS for the States and Communities that are lucky enough to get them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s executive order announced Tuesday pauses environmental permits on new large data centers for up to one year while the state develops a framework for regulating facilities to prevent them from hiking utility bills and affecting water supply.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul wants to use the moratorium to address frustration among communities over energy costs and provide clear regulation for companies, she said in an interview for Bloomberg\u2019s Odd Lots podcast. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand how important AI is,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are in a revolution. The winds of change are coming in at hurricane force, and it\u2019s disruptive, but it\u2019ll also be very positive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hedge fund billionaire Dan Loeb also blasted Hochul\u2019s order in a post on social media, calling it the \u201cstupidest move\u201d since local opposition contributed to Amazon.com Inc. scrapping plans to build a second headquarters in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul has been fielding concerns by the business community, including financial firm owners like Third Point LLC\u2019s Loeb, that New York is growing increasingly unfriendly to large corporations.
