A water main break has flooded a major intersection and surrounding streets in West Hollywood, sending thousands of gallons of water rushing down Sunset Boulevard Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The water poured down Holloway Drive and flooded underground parking garages of neighborhood apartments.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles County sheriff\u2019s deputies and firefighters were responding to the area as residents woke up to find their streets transformed into rushing rivers.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook at the volume of water coming out, this is one of the big ones,\u201d said Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Aaron Katon told a KTLA reporter at the scene.<\/p>\n
The water main is owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and its crews responded to the break just before 4 a.m., an official said.<\/p>\n
Crews were still trying to shut off the water as of 6:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
Video from the scene showed Palm and Hancock avenues flooded as the water flowed downhill toward Santa Monica Boulevard.<\/p>\n
A bus depot at Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards had turned into a shallow lake. <\/p>\n
