(Facebook: Matthew Guy)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The party had attempted to move against her a fortnight ago, but Mrs Deeming sought an injunction in the Supreme Court \u2014 action she withdrew this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Liberals united behind Mr Guy and were unmoved by her mediation attempts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mrs Deeming remains a member of the Liberal Party and an MP in the parliamentary team after Friday night&#8217;s vote, which confirms she will lose her position at the November election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Three-quarters of the state executive, which includes Opposition Leader Jess Wilson, needed to agree to disendorse her.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A blonde haired woman and a red headed man with glasses, both in blazers, look off camera, smiling.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/6e111e776f41356486ea5219717b0ff3.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Victorian Opposition Leader Jess Wilson is a member of the Liberal Party&#8217;s Victorian state executive.\u00a0 (ABC News)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Guy has always maintained his innocence and demanded an apology, which was backed in by Ms Wilson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Vision of the May interaction appeared to show Mr Guy placing his hand on Mrs Deeming&#8217;s back during a conversation at the crowded function.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">In a 12-page statement to the state executive earlier this week, Mrs Deeming continued to allege she was &#8220;grabbed, held and pulled with force&#8221; by Mr Guy, which she said caused &#8220;pain and distress&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">She said removing her for making a complaint would set a bad precedent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mrs Deeming is yet to comment on Friday&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">After the meeting, a statement from the Liberals said the party wished to &#8220;thank Moira for her service&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The Liberal Party considers this matter resolved,&#8221; the statement read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Ms Wilson issued a similar statement, saying the matter was now concluded and that her focus remained on the November election.<\/p>\n<p>Deeming flags possible bankruptcy<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mrs Deeming has separately flagged the possibility of facing bankruptcy, <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-07-16\/moira-deeming-liberal-party-court-costs\/106923426\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/106923426\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the ABC revealed on Thursday<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Writing to the Liberal state executive, Mrs Deeming wrote she was &#8220;facing bankruptcy over $1.55 million in legal costs that a former Liberal leader was ordered by the Federal Court to pay me&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A declaration of bankruptcy would force her removal from parliament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">NSW businessman Hilton Grugeon is seeking to be repaid for funding Mrs Deeming&#8217;s successful defamation action against former opposition leader John Pesutto earlier this term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mrs Deeming has been unable to repay Mr Grugeon while a Liberal Party loan to Mr Pesutto, who was ordered to pay her legal costs, remains before the courts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I&#8217;m hoping out of all this she will never be involved in the Victorian Liberal Party again, for both her sake and her family&#8217;s,&#8221;
