San Antonio Democrat Kristian Carranza, who\u2019s running for the Texas House District 118 seat, this week reported that her campaign raised more money than any other Texas House Democrat this cycle.<\/p>\n

Since Jan. 1, Carranza, who\u2019s vying to represent Bexar County\u2019s southern and eastern exurbs in the Texas House, has raised $311,145, out-fundraising her Republican opponent Jorge Borrego by more than $250,000.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, Carranza\u2019s campaign reported having more than $220,000 in cash on hand, compared to Borrego\u2019s $13,115. That\u2019s a 17-to-1 edge for Carranza.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone born and raised in HD-118, I talk to people in this district every day \u2014 in living rooms, at school board meetings, outside shuttered clinics \u2014\u00a0and the story is the same everywhere: schools starved of funding, families unable to make ends meet as prices soar, and voters who don\u2019t see anyone fighting for them,\u201d Carranza said in a statement. \u201cWe\u2019ve got the momentum and the grassroots support to finish what we started and flip [this district].\u201d<\/p>\n

Carranza ran a competitive campaign for Texas HD 118 against Republican incumbent state Rep. John Lujan in 2024, but lost by 3 points.<\/p>\n

After three terms in the Texas House, Lujan ran for Congress in the Republican primary in the state\u2019s recently redrawn 35th Congressional District. However, he was crushed by Trump-endorsed Carlos De La Cruz by nearly 26 points.<\/p>\n
