(iStock)<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Women who successfully lost weight with GLP-1 medications experienced changes across several life outcomes, including employment, <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_health_article_main-content_article-body_6_1942040\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/lifestyle\/relationships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">marriage<\/a> and cohabitation, according to the study.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Marriage and cohabitation rose 29% for single women after about 18 months.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_health_article_main-content_article-body_6_1942041\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/divorcees-widows-share-concerning-mental-health-trait-researchers-find\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>DIVORCEES AND WIDOWS SHARE CONCERNING MENTAL HEALTH TRAIT, RESEARCHERS FIND<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Among women who were not employed at the start of the study, job prospects increased by 27% after the same amount of time. Those who were already employed did not display any clear upward progress in their careers, however.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Diamond argues that these findings suggest part of the &#8220;<a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_health_article_main-content_article-body_6_1942042\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/nutrition-and-fitness\/obesity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">female obesity penalty<\/a>&#8221; comes from how people are judged when being matched up, either in a new relationship or a new job.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/job-interview-outfit-impression.jpg\" alt=\"woman shakes hand of employer\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>The findings say &#8220;more about societal bias than about the medication itself,&#8221; a doctor suggested. (iStock)<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Dr. Krishna Vyas, a plastic surgeon at Blechman Plastic Surgery in New York, told Fox News Digital in a separate interview that many patients seek breast lifts or body contouring after significant <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_health_article_main-content_article-body_6_1942047\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/nutrition-and-fitness\/weight-loss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">GLP-1 weight loss<\/a>, after which they find themselves &#8220;re-engaging with life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/newsletters?cmpid=fnfirstnl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;That confidence effect is real in the exam room,&#8221; said the surgeon, who also was not involved in the research. &#8220;This study, however, showed no clear improvement in <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_health_article_main-content_article-body_6_1942049\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/mental-health\/depression\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">depression<\/a>, loneliness or life satisfaction, even as marriage and employment rates climbed dramatically.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;The opportunities opened, yet the women didn&#8217;t report feeling better, which suggests it was largely the gatekeepers who changed, not the women.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Potential limitations<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Because this was an observational study rather than a randomized clinical trial, it could only show an association \u2014 not cause and effect. The findings are also considered preliminary because the paper has not yet been peer-reviewed, the author acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;Additionally, since the study only looked at women, that introduces another layer of potential bias,&#8221; Balazs noted. &#8220;I&#8217;d be interested to see whether the findings would be the same if the study <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_health_article_main-content_article-body_6_1942050\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/healthy-living\/mens-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">included men<\/a> or compared them directly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/gen-z-couple-money-break-up.jpg\" alt=\"couple seen from necks down holding hands facing eachother having conversation in a cafe.\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Weight loss has hormonal impacts as well, so the normalization of hormones and the profound metabolic and psychological relief that comes with it can be a factor, too,&#8221; an expert said.
